Spa & Wellness Offerings At Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat In 2026
If your idea of "winding down" involves scrolling your phone in bed while a true-crime documentary plays in the background, it might be time for a change of scenery.
Modern life is loud, but Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat is offering a 200-acre antidote. Located just 90 minutes east of Toronto, the glamping destination officially opened for the 2026 season on May 15 with a curated lineup of returning and newly added wellness experiences.
Surrounded by old-growth forest and spring-fed ponds, it’s an invitation to trade the high-pressure performance of modern self-care for an environment that actually lets you breathe.
The 2026 spa and wellness offerings feature:
- Outdoor Yoga
- Forest Sound Healing
- Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)
- Energy Healing & Reiki
- Thermal Therapy
Here is a closer look at what to expect when you trade the city concrete for the forest floor.
Outdoor Yoga
A featured highlight for 2026 is outdoor yoga in the property’s open-air pavilion, led by local instructor Nicole Stirling.
Specializing in Hatha and restorative yoga, Nicole brings years of fitness expertise and over five years of dedicated yoga instruction in the Northumberland County area to the mat, seamlessly weaving mindfulness techniques into her classes. Surrounded by trees and natural light, these guided sessions at Whispering Springs are designed for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
There is something fundamentally different about practicing outdoors. The breeze replaces air conditioning. Birds replace curated playlists. The forest naturally slows your pace, making it easier to focus on movement, breathing, and simply being present.

Sound healing in the forest
Taking full advantage of the landscape, Whispering Springs offers guided sound healing experiences in the woods, also led by Nicole Stirling in 2026.
Bringing over 20 years of experience as an energy healer and Reiki practitioner, Nicole knows exactly how to hold space for deep, grounded relaxation. These sound healing sessions use resonant instruments – including singing bowls and chimes – to create a deeply calming atmosphere among the trees. Guests simply lie back in hammocks while the sounds move through the forest canopy around them.
Unlike a traditional indoor meditation setting, the natural acoustics of the forest become part of the experience itself. The wind through the leaves and the quiet rhythm of nature blend into the session in a way that feels uniquely immersive. It works on the nervous system to quiet mental chatter, feeling like a natural extension of the property.

Energy healing/reiki
When it comes to guests looking for a more personal reset, the retreat offers outdoor energy healing and Reiki sessions, also guided by resident practitioner Nicole Stirling.
Think of Reiki as a deep-tissue massage for your internal battery. Drawing on more than two decades of experience, Nicole uses this gentle technique to clear stagnant energy, often incorporating crystals to balance your energy centers (chakras).
Rooted in emotional well-being, these unhurried sessions are a chance to simply lie back and let go. Guests often pair them with slow mornings, reading by the pond, or evenings under the stars.

Equine assisted learning (EAL)
Taking the concept of a natural reset in a unique direction, Whispering Springs' Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) program swaps the yoga mat for the paddock.
EAL is a powerful, experiential approach to personal growth that takes place alongside horses and a trained facilitator. It requires absolutely zero riding experience. Through guided, ground-based interactions, participants are invited to explore their own patterns of behaviour, emotion, and connection in a way that is immediate, embodied, and often profoundly moving.
Why horses? Because they have an extraordinary ability to sense what words cannot say. They are honest, present, and deeply perceptive, making them remarkable partners in the work of self-discovery and healing. They respond purely to your actual energy – not the exhausted, overly-polished version of yourself.
The sessions are led by Bill Corcoran, who brings a uniquely fascinating background to the paddock. After a 45-year career as a film and television director (including work on The Black Stallion), Bill spent the past 12 years trading Hollywood sets for horses. He trained extensively as an Equine Assisted Therapy Practitioner. Bill has now developed this specific EAL program to use horses to inspire genuine wellness, growth, and authenticity in communication.
Whispering Springs offers three ways to experience EAL with Bill:
- For Individuals: Come alone and meet yourself in a new way. Individual sessions offer a private, supported space to explore personal challenges, process emotions, and reconnect with your inner world. The horses respond to your energy, openness, and vulnerability – and reflect it back in ways that are both surprising and deeply illuminating.
- For Couples: There is no better mirror for a relationship than a horse. Partners work together in the paddock to navigate connection, communication, and trust in real time. Whether you are deepening a thriving relationship or working through something tender, this experience creates space for honesty, presence, and renewed understanding.
- For Small Groups (3-5 people): Ideal for friends or families looking for a meaningful shared experience. You will explore themes of trust, leadership, listening, and collaboration through the completely unfiltered lens of working alongside horses. Transformative, grounding, and unlike anything your group has done before.

Thermal Therapy And Saltwater Pool Amenities
Beyond the bookable treatments, Whispering Springs includes several signature relaxation amenities as a staple of every stay. Guests have full access to the saltwater pool, hot tub, cedar barrel sauna, and cold plunge.
The contrast between the sauna and cold plunge continues to be a favorite for travellers looking to combine physical recovery with time outdoors.
After a forest walk, alternating between heat and cold creates a deeply refreshing reset. For those who prefer more isolation, the new A-Frame cabins even come equipped with their own private hot tubs overlooking the pond.
