The Story of Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat:
From Vision to Acclaimed Destination
Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat blends a personal family vision with widespread media recognition as a premier Canadian glamping destination.
Our Story: A Family Vision
The retreat was born from a family's shared love for the Canadian wilderness and a dream to create a space that combines the adventure of camping with the comfort of a luxury resort. This vision materialized in the rolling hills of Northumberland County, where the family transformed over 200 acres of land into a refined, nature-based getaway.
The founders’ desire was to create an experience where guests could connect with nature without sacrificing modern conveniences, pioneering the concept of luxury glamping in the region. This passion project led to the development of unique, log-framed safari tents, upscale amenities, and a focus on blending rustic charm with sophisticated design.
The entire experience—from the design of the tents and communal spaces to the curation of activities—is rooted in the family's deep respect for the land and a commitment to providing an unforgettable, restorative escape.
Green Practices & Environmental Stewardship
AT WHISPERING SPRINGS
We actively partner with national reforestation programs, protect one of Eastern Canada’s purest spring water sources, and carefully preserve the rich native ecosystem across our 200 acres. Our commitment to sustainability ensures that every stay contributes to the balance of the beautiful wilderness we call home.

Tree Planting & Reforestation with the 2 Billion Trees Program
We are proud to partner with the Forest Canada 2 Billion Trees Program, a national initiative to combat climate change through large-scale reforestation. In 2024 alone, Whispering Springs planted over 9,000 native trees across our 200-acre property — helping to restore natural habitats, improve biodiversity, and sequester carbon emissions. With even more trees scheduled for planting next year, we’re committed to being a local leader in reforestation and ecological restoration.
Protecting One of Eastern Canada’s Purest Spring Water Sources
Whispering Springs was designed around the protection and long-term stewardship of our natural spring, which produces some of the purest water in Eastern Canada. Our spring-fed pond is the central focal point of our entire resort. Our glamping infrastructure, land-use strategy, and entire hospitality model are carefully crafted to preserve this irreplaceable natural resource for generations to come — ensuring minimal disruption to the land while offering a truly luxurious, nature-immersive experience. Our water is one of the few sources in Canada to meet the Perrier standard – an elite benchmark in the beverage industry.

Wildlife, Flora & Fauna Preservation
As caretakers of a rich ecosystem of old-growth forests, wetlands, prairie-savannah meadows, and spring-fed ponds, we actively preserve the native wildlife, flora, and fauna that call Whispering Springs home. Our team works diligently to ensure trails, tents, and event spaces are thoughtfully placed to minimize ecological disturbance — encouraging guests to reconnect with nature while respecting its balance. While visiting the property you may see wildlife such as deer, fox, otters, wild turkeys, Canadian Geese and lots of chipmunks and squirrels.
