Why you should consider an Elopement or Intimate Wedding

Whether your wedding was cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19 or you are in the very early stages of wedding planning in the midst of the pandemic, you have likely had to adjust the vision of what your dream wedding is going to look like. With large gatherings banned until further notice and many individuals on tighter budgets than they were before the pandemic, together the wedding industry and engaged couples will have to navigate these new waters together. Here are a few reasons why you may want to consider hosting an elopement or intimate wedding as opposed to traditional wedding festivities following the COVID-19 pandemic:

Less planning & stress

Let’s be honest - hosting a large wedding can be stressful. They generally involve months of planning and organization, followed by last minute changes and revisions. And while there is no doubt that the actual event is worth the time and energy it took to plan, after months of social distancing and isolation many of us are not in the mindset to undertake planning a large gathering. Many venues and wedding planners are introducing full planning packages for elopements and intimate weddings - taking care of all the tiny details so that you don’t have to. We have launched our own elopement packages at Whispering Springs and are also partnering with talented local wedding planners to make elopements and intimate weddings as easy and stress-free as possible, without hurting your wallet.

Minimize guest interaction

If it is your hearts desire to have your elderly parents or grandparents attend you nuptials, then a small, intimate wedding may be the safest route to go. Not only will large gatherings likely be off the table for the forseeable future, but the increased person-to-person contact also pose a danger to individuals who are at a high risk of complications relating to COVID-19. With an elopement or intimate wedding you can help minimize this risk, even asking all guests in attendance to socially isolate for the weeks prior to your wedding to help ensure that no one is at risk of spreading COVID-19 to your elderly guests. With a small, intimate wedding you also don’t have to feel guilty about not inviting your mom’s second cousin. Just worry about inviting your very nearest & dearest.

More economical

If you and your partner were laid-off during the pandemic then it is likely that your wedding fund is not quite where you hoped it would be. The average Canadian wedding costs approximately $30,000, an expense that is difficult for many individuals to fathom in today’s financial climate. Elopements and intimate weddings are much more affordable and doable if you are on a tight budget, and allow you and your partner to celebrate your love without breaking the bank or accruing unnecessary debt. Our Tier One Elopement Package starts at $3,500, and this includes 2-nights of accommodations for 10 guests, an Officiant and use of our stunning La Petite Chapel.

Intimate

While we are eagerly looking forward to the day that we can once again host large festivities at the Springs, over the years we have noticed that there is something magical about smaller weddings and gatherings. A small wedding is less overwhelming for the bride and groom, and gives you the opportunity to truly visit and relish the time you have with your guests. Small weddings, without the elaborate decor and planning, also reinforce the real reason why you have gathered your closest friends and family: to celebrate the special love & bond you share with your partner. In the festivities of a large gathering it often seems as though this little fact is forgotten, and the pressure of ensuring that everything runs smoothly can be overwhelming. We suggest embracing this change of pace in the wedding world and remember that bigger isn’t always better.

If you have had to cancel your wedding plans, postpone your wedding, or are simply exploring your nuptial options, we would love to hear from you. We have created simple and affordable elopement packages to choose from or can recommend some amazing wedding planners who specialize in elopements and intimate gatherings.
