Essential Information and Preparation

To help you prepare for your "glamping" (luxury camping) getaway, here is a combined guide on what to bring and the answers to frequently asked questions about your stay at Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat.

What to Bring

Each luxury tent and cabin is fully outfitted with fine linens, cozy blankets, plush towels, and luxurious robes. However, the resort is still in the great outdoors, and packing a few necessities will enhance your stay:

Food & Cooking Food for your campfire cookouts, iron skillet or tin foil to cook and prep meals. Every tent includes a mini-fridge and a BBQ. BBQ, flipper, plates, and cutlery are provided. You can purchase a Breakfast Basket or Cook-Your-Own BBQ Dinner Basket prior to arrival.

  • What is Glamping?

  • When is the resort open?

     The season typically runs from late May until mid-October (exact dates vary by year).

  • How far is it from major cities?

    Whispering Springs is located approximately 1.5 hours east of Toronto. The closest quaint villages, Colborne and Grafton, are less than 10 minutes away.

  • Is there a store?

    Yes, a small camp store is located in The Watering Hole Guest Lounge & Bar, offering healthy trail snacks, souvenirs, and glamping goodies

Accommodations & Amenities
  • Is there hot water?

    Yes. Each tent with an ensuite has hot and cold running water. The resort uses on-demand hot water heaters, which may take a few minutes to heat up.

  • Where are the bathrooms?

    Junior, Traditional, Treetop and Deluxe  Safari Tents and the Whisper Cabin have private washrooms. Mini Safari Tents use shared washroom facilities nearby. There are also washrooms near The Watering Hole and an outdoor shower at Saltwater Springs.

  • Is there heat in the tents?

    Our Safari Tents  are not heated, but they are equipped with electric blankets and small electric heaters. The Whisper Cabin and Chalet are  heated and have a gas fireplace.

  • What if the weather is bad?

    Rainy days are encouraged for relaxation—curl up with a book, or visit The Watering Hole Guest Lounge & Bar for craft beer, meeting fellow campers, and playing classic board games.

Policies & Logistics
  • Are children allowed?

    Whispering Springs is an adults-only destination. All guests must be at least 16 years of age, except for those attending weddings and private events.

  • Are pets allowed?

    No, outside animals are not allowed on the property due to respect for local wildlife and livestock. A nearby option is Tucked Inn Kennels, which offers shuttle service.

  • Can guests bring their own tents?

     No. The resort is zoned as a resort, not a campground, and cannot allow guests to pitch their own tents.

  • Cellular Service & Wi-Fi:

    Cellular reception is not strong in the area, and the resort does not offer Wi-Fi at this time, encouraging a digital detox.

  • Check-in/Check-out:

    Check-in is generally not available early as tents are time-intensive to prepare and are typically ready at 3 PM.


    Check-out is 11 AM, except for wedding bookings which have a check-out time of 10:30 AM


    Late check-out until 12 PM is available for an additional fee of $49.99, provided there is no wedding or private event that day.

  • Property Access:

     Amenities and activities are only available to registered guests. If you want to use the property amenities prior to check-in or after check-out, you can purchase a resort pass for $29.99, though this is not available if a wedding or private event is taking place.

  • Payment:

    All major credit cards and cash payments are accepted. Interac or Visa Debit are not accepted.
