It’s been a busy few weeks at Whispering Springs! We would like to take this opportunity to update our friends and family on our progress over the last month. As we grow and evolve, we want you to be an integral part of it, and over the next few months, we will be sharing the excitement and exhaustion of starting this new adventure.
For those of you who don’t know, glamping is a unique style of camping that introduces hotel style amenities into the wilderness. Essentially, we want to bridge the gap between the traditional camping experience and everyone’s innate desire for comfort. In doing so, we hope to make camping more accessible to the general public and introduce the great outdoors to those who simply aren’t fond of roughing it. We first came up with the idea of Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat two years ago, after learning about the numerous glamping resorts that were popping up all over the west coast.
There are many late night brainstorming sessions around the kitchen table, followed by very early mornings.

THE BEGINNINGS OF THE PAVILLION. THIS WILL BE A COMMUNAL GATHERING AREA FOR GUESTS
After two years of researching, planning, and brainstorming, this past January we were granted approval from the local Township to proceed with Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat. While this was a big step, the hardest work is still ahead of us. So while glamping may be glamorous, be assured that constructing a glamping resort is not. There are many late night brainstorming sessions around the kitchen table, followed by very early mornings. Right now an eight-hour day seems like a short day as we try to get Whispering Springs up and running. However, the support from the local inhabitants of the forest has been very encouraging. This past weekend a family of otters stopped by to say ‘hello’, and almost every morning our crew is greeted by the friendly gaze of a white-tailed deer.

Calm down. We just went to the store. 🙂
Just needs the fly and this tent is ready for furniture and finishing touches.
With a little trial and error we got our first tent up (it’s definitely not as easy as it looks, especially when a thunderstorm is looming in the distance!). Hopefully, our other tents will be soon to follow. Last week the crew from Timber Kits delivered and erected our beautiful Guest Pavilion, which will be the hub of glamping activity at Whispering Springs. Our saltwater pool and in-ground hot tub have arrived and are just waiting to be installed. With our Grand Opening less than 2 months away, there is still much work to be completed. However, everyday we get more and more excited as we watch Whispering Springs come to life and we look forward to sharing our journey with you!
