We’ve learned a lot since beginning construction on Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat
a few months ago, and it seems as though every day we are learning something new. While some if it is quite practical, such as how to erect a prospector tent in half a day, we’ve also learned how to get rid of poison ivy in record time, care for an injured baby squirrel, and have mastered the art of afterwork cocktails. We have come to realize that every single day is an opportunity for new growth and learning, and that when you live in the country you never know what the day is going to bring. Here are a few of the top things we’ve learned since embarking on this endeavor:

We are becoming experts at putting up tents!

Every little bit counts
. Through this process we have learned just how important it is to support other people’s dream. While you may not think about it when you are browsing through Facebook
or scanning Instagram
, every like, share and new follower means a lot to us, not to mention each new booking! Building a business from the ground up can be a little bit overwhelming and discouraging at times, and we sincerely appreciate all the support from our family and friends. Also, the effort and dedication put forth by our entire team is what keeps this project moving forward.

Everyone has the potential for creativity.
Since beginning Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat,
we have encouraged each and very team member to be as creative and innovative as possible. From our carpenters using old barn beams and reclaimed birch trees to design and construct one-of-a kind beds, to our future yoga instructor painting mandalas and quaint trail signs, everyone is channeling their inner artist. With gnome homes, hammock nooks and inspiring quotes hidden throughout the forest, we would like Whispering Springs
to be a truly unique and relaxing escape from the stresses of life. A place to unwind and reconnect with yourself and nature.
It’s important to keep the end goal in mind. We are not going to lie, we’ve had more than a few “Oh my god, what are we doing?!” moments. Days when we want to kick the bucket, pack our bags and run for the hills. However, we always try to keep our end vision in mind, and as things come together it is becoming easier and easier to do this. Each tent has emerged with its own unique theme inspired by their individual surroundings and custom furnishings. We have also begun work on the plumbing and septic, and before too long our guests will be able to enjoy a relaxing bubble bath while listening to the sounds of the forest. We are very excited to share this special place with our friends, family & future guests!
